Dr. Shafiq Rehman

Consultant - Interventional Cardiology

After completing his MBBS graduation and internal medicine post graduation, Dr. Shafiq Rehman worked as an Assistant professor at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Kochi. Thereafter he pursued and completed his DNB Cardiology super-specialty programme at Amrita Institute itself. He is a trained interventional Cardiologist with expertise in coronary angiography, coronary angioplasties, pacemaker implantation and various structural heart disease device implantations. He has worked in some of the major hospitals in the state, including the KIMS hospitals at Trivandrum and Kochi. He has numerous publications to his credit and continues to take part in many path breaking research activities in Interventional Cardiology. He is a faculty for DNB Cardiology training at Renai Medicity Hospital. He is currently serving as an Examiner in the National Board of Examinations panel of Examiners for DNB Cardiology Final Examinations. Dr. Shafiq is a Life Member of the Cardiological society of India, Interventional cardiology council of Kerala, The Cochin Cardiology Forum and the Indian medical association. He is also an International Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology. Dr. Shafiq dedicates a significant part of his practice to disseminate awareness about heart diseases and regularly conducts early detection camps to promote the preventive aspects of cardiology care among the general public.
