Services offered:

Hand surgery

Correction of congenital hand abnormalities such as missing thumb or other fingers, management of acute hand trauma, amputated fingers or hands, lacerations, nerve repairs including Brachial Plexus reconstructions, correction of problems of aging such as rheumatoid arthritis, nerve injuries and hand fractures.

Reconstructive Surgery

Involves the restoration of form and function in any area of the body due to congenital absence, loss due to burns or trauma or after tumour excisions. This might include repairing a defect left when a cancerous tumour is removed, reconstructing a breast following a mastectomy, burn reconstruction, burn scar revisions, craniofacial reconstruction, upper and lower extremity reconstruction, flap reconstruction and other general reconstructions, head and neck reconstruction, surgery for Alopecia, scars and Vitiligo etc.

Body Contouring

Includes procedures such as tummy tuck, liposuction, thigh lift, arms reshaping, butt lift, buttock reshaping, ear correction, neck lift, contouring after massive weight loss, male breast reduction etc

Microsurgery

In microsurgery, surgeons reattach arteries, veins, nerves, tendons, bones taken from a donor or from another part of a patient’s body. In joining arteries, veins, and nerves, they use operating microscope for the best results. Microsurgery is used in breast reconstruction, hand surgery, cancer reconstruction, facial reanimation after facial paralysis and trauma of the lower extremities, artery repairs, nerve repair, tendon transfers, wound coverage by micro free tissue transfer, replantations, lymphoedema etc.

Cosmetic or Aesthetic surgery

Such as breast reduction or augmentation, breast lift, breast asymmetry correction, lip augmentation, liposuction, face lift, brow lift, rhinoplasty (correction of nose), chin augmentation, double chin correction, facial implants etc

HAIR TRANSPLANTATION

It is a surgical technique that removes hair follicle from one part of the body, (donor site) to a balding part of the body (recipient site). Usually hair follicles are transferred from the back of the scalp (donor) to the balding scalp area (recipient )

TECHNIQUES IN HAIR TRANSPLANTATION

STRIP METHOD/ FOLLICULAR UNIT TRANSPLANTATION

Using a scalpel, excision of full thickness strip of skin from the back of the scalp is done. Strip sizes may vary 6-10 inches long. Then the donor area is closed by stitches and then the strip of the scalp is dissected into individual hair follicles. Using blade/needle the holes are made in the bald area into which the hair follicles are implanted.

Disadvantages
  • Involves suturing
  • Leaves a linear scar
  • Prolonged recovery time at times
  • More handling of grafts

FUE FOLLICULAR UNIT EXTRACTION

Minimally invasive, scarless extraction technique

Each follicular unit is removed individually with high precision and minimal trans section by using tiny punches (0.7-1mm). Graft are then inserted into the holes in the bald area one by one with a tool called penset or by the use of the needles

Advantages
  • Pinpoint tiny scar which heals faster
  • Speedy recovery
  • Minimally invasive
  • No visible scar, minimal scarring

Frequently asked questions about hair transplant

1) Is it done under general anesthesia or local anesthesia? Does the procedure hurt?

It is done under local anaesthesia, the areas (donor and recipient) are anesthetized by LA which is injected using small insulin syringes which causes minimal or no pain.

2) Will my transplanted hair eventually fall out ?

When you have hair grafted from the back and sides of your scalp to your balding areas, it will continue to grow just like hair on your scalp. But initially, the hair shaft will fall out whereas the roots will remain and new hair will start growing normally.

3) How much time does it take for a transplant?

Usually on an average 6-7 hours, including the in between break time. Sometimes multiple sessions may be needle, depending on the requirement of grafts Time depends on the number of grafts, various parameters like the texture of the skin, intraoperative parameters etc.

4) When will the transplanted hair grow back?

The growth of the implanted hair follicles starts at 3 months after the transplant surgery. The complete result usually takes an average of 8-9 months. This time is needed for the new hair shafts to become mature, and appear similar to the surrounding hair on the scalp.

5) Will the hair grow back in the donor area?

The hair follicles are harvested from the donor area in such a way that ,it is camouflaged by the growth of hair overlying it. Extraction is done in a zigzag manner, intermittently and is done using tiny punches (0.7 -1 mm) and when the surrounding scalpel hairs grows back, the harvested donor area will be very hard to make out.

6) Are the medications needed life long?

The healthy grafts are potent by themselves to grow into healthy hair. The vitamin tablets like biotin can also aid in the process of growth, other than that no lifelong medications are required.
